  The Health Economics degree programme is a consecutive Master's degree programme that is more research-oriented

  Aim

  In the Master's degree programme in Health Economics, students acquire the specialist knowledge, skills and methods in an education related to the general and scientific professional world. They are enabled to work scientifically, to critically categorise scientific findings and to act responsibly. In particular, the degree programme imparts knowledge and skills that will enable students to work successfully in the healthcare sector and related fields, as well as in research institutions and science if they are particularly qualified. By applying knowledge in the field of health economics, students should be able to contribute independently to solving such problems and critically categorise scientific findings. Potential career fields in the Health Economics degree programme include junior positions in economic and especially health economic research, management functions in healthcare institutions, positions in consulting institutions, staff positions, medical care centres or integrated care as well as in process and quality management in private practices or physician networks and also speaker positions at healthcare associations. The degree programme prepares students for these activities in a special way. In addition, the programme aims to enable students to acquire the basic skills that enable them to advance scientific knowledge. The programme is primarily research-oriented. Passing the Master's examination qualifies students for a doctorate

  Target group

  The target group includes successful graduates with a professionally qualifying degree

  • in an economics degree programme,
  • in degree programmes related to business and economics, such as industrial engineering, business informatics or business mathematics

  at a university within the meaning of the Higher Education Framework Act (§ 19 para. 2 sentence 1 HRG)

  Scope

  • 120 credits according to the European Credits Transfer System (ECTS)
  • The standard period of study is two years
  • The programme comprises 90 credits from courses and 30 credits for the Master's thesis

  Programme content

  The Master's degree programme is divided into four sections

  1. Compulsory area: compulsory courses totalling 42 credits
  2. Compulsory elective area: courses totalling 42 credits, of which at least 24 credits must be in the field of economics
  3. Seminar area: compulsory courses totalling 6 credits
  4. Master's thesis:30 credits

• Description

  Information on courses taught by junior professors, associate professors, honorary professors, private lecturers, postdoctoral research associates, lecturers and courses offered by other faculties at UDE

  Courses and examinations offered by junior professors, associate professors, honorary professors, private lecturers, post-doctoral research assistants and lecturers, with the exception of courses and examinations in the compulsory area, represent a voluntary additional offer by the Faculty of Business Administration and Economics in the specified semester. The same applies to courses offered by other faculties of the UDE (services offered). Students are not legally entitled to repeat the course and examination in the following semester or further semesters. Find out about the current programme before the start of each lecture period. Courses offered for the first time are subject to approval and/or funding.

  Examiners

  At the Faculty of Business Administration and Economics, the principle of "those who teach, examine" applies. Examiners are therefore the lecturer(s) named in the respective module description. In the case of course combinations consisting of a lecture and (usually) an exercise, the lecturer of the lecture is the examiner. If there are several lecturers who teach the course in alternating semesters, the lecturer in the respective semester is also the examiner in the associated examinations. This applies irrespective of the additional appointment of examiners by the Examination Board.

  • Description

    Das Thema der Abschlussarbeit wird i.d.R. von einer Hochschullehrerin oder einem Hochschullehrer, einer Hochschuldozentin oder einem Hochschuldozenten bzw. einer Privatdozentin oder einem Privatdozenten der Fakultät für Wirtschaftswissenschaften gestellt und betreut, die oder der im jeweiligen Studiengang Lehrveranstaltungen durchführt. Potentielle Betreuerinnen und Betreuer einer Abschlussarbeit sind, vorbehaltlich der Bestellung weiterer Betreuerinnen oder Betreuer durch den Prüfungsausschuss, nachfolgend mit Verweisen zu den jeweiligen Voraussetzungen und Bewerbungsmodalitäten aufgeführt. Im übrigen gelten die Bestimmungen der Prüfungsordnung.
